ABATE Motorcycle Rider Education in West Lafayette

(APRIL 9, 2012) ABATE of Indiana is pleased to announce that motorcycle safety will continue to have a home in Greater Lafayette. Barry Rubin and the good people at Innovatech have stepped forward to provide a facility for rider education classes. This is an incredible gesture as the future of these courses was uncertain just a couple weeks ago and would not be possible were it not for friends such as Innovatech and their willingness to serve as a host. Additionally, Superintendent Rocky Killion and and the West Lafayette School Corporation have made space available for motorcycle license examinations at the former Burtsfield School. Motorcyclists are extremely grateful to West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis, as he was instrumental in helping to secure both of these properties. ABATE wishes to thank the many people that assisted in this exhaustive 18 month search.

Demand for these offerings has continued to grow following an increase of motorcycle registrations in Indiana. Studies have indicated that unlicensed, or improperly licensed riders, are over-represented in motorcycle fatalities and that 92% of motorcycle crashes involved persons that were self taught. These statistics further validate the importance of this invaluable, life-saving, community service.

Schedules and registration information are available here or by calling 1-800-23-ABATE.
